THE SOUTH is led by bassist Jermaine Butler, who used to be the drummer of Louisiana-based psych-rock band Moon Honey. After Moon Honey relocated from Baton Rouge to Los Angeles, Jermaine stayed behind to develop his aesthetic as a solo artist. Now based in Bloomington, Jermaine leads a live band that evokes the feel of sample-based hip-hop in ways that would appeal to fans of J Dilla, Sidewalk Chalk and Khruangbin. Jermaine and his band will tour this summer to showcase material from their upcoming debut album.
